On August 15th, I had the honor to once again stand as a media representative in the Red Carpet premiere of the new Kendrick Brother’s movie Overcomer. It always humbles me to be able to speak to some of these incredible people who are impacting the movie industry in unprecedented ways.
While I stood there for a couple of hours, I met and interviewed the movie’s main characters, including Shari Rigby (Not Today, October Baby, Extraordinary), Cameron Arnett (Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns, Champion, Extraordinary, Man’s Best Friend, Stand your Ground), and new actress 16-year-old Aryn Thompson-Wright. I enjoyed hearing about how Overcomer has impacted their lives and their hopes for the movie.
My favorite moment came later that evening, though. During the movie preview, I sat down with the incomparable Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer for a face-to-face interview, where we talked about Jesus, balancing family life, and the surprise turn on her ministry career when she realized God was calling her to share Jesus on the big screen.
Priscilla is the real deal. She is a breath of fresh air – a woman who realizes that everything she’s ever accomplished belongs to the One Who called her.
I hope you enjoy her interview as much as I enjoyed taping it. This coming weekend, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will publish my column about the movie #Overcomer. I hope you come back to read it.
Have a blessed week!
Patricia
